History

1977 Creation of the "Fondation pour l'Enfance".
1978 First survey of mistreated children in France.
1989 Freephone number 119 « Hello mistreated children » brought into service
179 589 calls recieved in 2000.
  First conference « Les avocats pour enfants » (solicitors for children)
1991 First national survey carried out with 82 000 GP’s on the theme « Doctors faced with mistreated children »
1993 Organisation of the first Parenthood seminar entitled « The Royaumont meetings », destined for doctors, midwives and pediatric nurses. This seminar gave way to the creation of the permanent study into parenthood (the GPEM) which studies the the dys-functions within the mother child relationship.
  The organisation of a conference on the theme of « Motherhood today : an appraisal » within the boundaries of the international year of the family, lead by UNESCO
This conference sparked large interest and increased public awareness about the necessity to take into account the psychological element of motherhood.
1995 Organisation of the international summit of children’s rights in collaboration with UNESCO, UNICEF and BICE ( international catholic childrens board). More than 30 first ladies, as well as the representatives from 300 NGO internationals met in Paris for the appraisal regarding the implementation of the Children’s Rights Agreement throughout the world.
This forum gathered together 1500 participants and 137 journalsits and was followed by 57 television channels. It gave way to the creation of a permanent group comprised of the wives of head of states called upon to implement children’s right’s within their own countries. This commitment resulted in the the organisation of regional forums on each continent treating specific themes regarding child protection. ( EG Burkina Faso in 1997, and Columbia in 1998).
  The all out effort of all of the french MP’s meant that the 20th of November is now recognised as National Children’s Rights day.
  The campaign titled « une fenetre sur le monde » (a window in the world) in partnership with the pocket editions and the FNABEH (National federation of hospital library associations) to help with the creation of libraries for children and to support the new projects within the hospital’s children’s service
1996 A press conference on the theme « l’enfant dans les conflits armés » (children in armed conflicts) with Mrs Yassa Arafat.
The foundation solomnly launched an appeal to the international community so that the psychological sufferings of children in situations of armed conflict would be recognised as crimes against humanity.
  Promulgation of the law, making the 20th of November National children’s rights day, on the 9th of April 1996.
  The organisation of a panorama on the international children’s rights agreement on the 20th of November 1996 on the human right’s square, at the Trocadéro, Paris.
1997 The organisation of the first regional summit of west africa on children’s rights : « Access to education for all , is in particular a priority for african women and girls », Ouagandougou, Burkina Faso.
The Children’s Foundation brought it’s technical, scientific and material support in collaboration with UNESCO, UNICEF and the Suka foundation presided over by the first lady of Burkina Faso.
1998 The launch of an informative national campaign to help denounce the phenomenon of the homelessness of youth in France around the theme of : «Jeunes en errance, mineurs en danger » (Homeless youth, minors in danger)
  The organisation of and participation in the second regional summit on childens rights : «Violence intra-familiale et exploitation sexuelle infantile » (Violence within the family and sexual exploitation of children), Carthahena, Columbia.
1999 Conference « Le traumatisme psychique, social et sexuel : combattre et réparer » (Psychological, social and sexual trauma : how to fight against and repare it) at Hyères
  International conference on the dissapearances and abductions of minors, in collaboration with INTERPOL, Lyon.
  Conference organised with the association of solicitors in the Paris court : « Les enlèvments parentaux transfrontières : une violence contre l’enfant » (Parental kidnapping across coutry borders: violence against children.
  Creation of specialised works by the ERES editions.
  Publication of a directory of the children’s protection agencies in France.
  Practical guide destined for GP’s so that they can take better care of child victims of mistreatment.
2000 Conference of the senat on the theme « Le syndrome de Munchausen par procuration : mythes et réalités » (Munchausens syndrome by proxy : myths and reality)
  International conference on the theme « La résilience : le réalisme de l’espérence » (Resilience : the realisation of hope) at the international conference centre in Paris
  Conference at the senat : « De la violence conjugale à la violence parentale » (From marital to parental violence)
  First session of the technical seminar on « La résilience : Concept et Action » ( Resilience : Concepts and actions)
  20th of November : The first meeting of the european magistrates in charge of the protection of minors.
2001 Second session of the first technical seminar «La résilience, concept et action » (resilience , concept and action), and the first session of the second technical seminar.
  Conference at the senat « La sexualité à l’adolescence » (sexuality to adolescence)
1994 European conference was organised around the theme « Stop the vicious circle » in Paris.
  This conference favourised the emergence of new groups started by European non governmental organisations ( Food distribution, the developpement of state housing, welcome of ethnic minorities in europe, financial welfare of new born babies from undesirable areas taken care of)..
